ATShinkansen
Hello, I've got a question pertaining to the DE10's axle arrangement. Some sources say AAA-B, while others say C-B, with most seeming to agree with the former. If it is indeed AAA-B, how are the first three axles arranged to not make it a C truck? My only guess would be that the center axle is rigidly mounted while the other two pivot around it. Thanks, Aaron Link to comment
miyakoji
So AAA means it's 3 independent axles as opposed to C, which would be 3 on a single fixed frame? I don't understand those classifications so I never really thought about it. I figured it just scraped through turns or something. Here's a pretty cool CG image of the DT132A type that shows how it's an AAA configuration: http://traincglib.web.fc2.com/traindir/jnr_etc/dt132_001.html And the other 3-axle truck that DE10s have is the DT141. On this page, the third image is one being hoisted and it's not rigid, so I guess this is the same situation: http://ameblo.jp/aru-king/entry-11218622055.html Thanks for bringing this up, this is an interesting detail. I'm sure some other members will have some info, too. Link to comment
