Densha
Recently, the tramway company in the Dutch city of Den Haag (or the Hague/whatever) teamed up with some investor guy and produced a restaurant tram where you can eat while being showed around the city. A few pics of mine: Now this looks quite Eiji Mitooka style doesn't it? Dark brownish with a few golden stripes. There are a few pics of the interior on the bottom of this page: http://haagsetrams.com/gtl/tramrestaurant/tramrestaurant.html Here a video of the rebuilt: 1 Link to comment

Densha
Now that you mention it, that looks exactly the same! I completely forgot about that one. Much of Eiji Mitooka's stuff has the same colour scheme. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Those are quite large pantos! Link to comment
Densha
I'm used to them since my childhood so I didn't really pay attention to that, but compared to other trams they are quite large indeed. I believe the overhead wires in Den Haag are placed higher than on most tram networks requiring larger pantos of course. In the past the overhead wires were extremely high, I believe the origin of this lies in the fact that Den Haag's tram network was used by multiple companies and had local and interurban passenger lines as well as freight trains. Some illustrating pics... High overhead wires: http://htmfoto.net/algemeen/foto_tonen2.php?foto=ZwartWit/212.JPG HTM interurban to Leiden: http://htmfoto.net/series/diversen2/75+101+120-211159.JPG The freight locos were used for hauling coal trains on the tram network to the power plant but also to rescue other trams and for maintenance works: http://www.htmfoto.net/algemeen/tonen2.php?pagina=1385062656 NZH interurban 'Blauwe tram' ('blue tram'): https://www.flickr.com/photos/tramwegstichting/7548403798 Nowadays only the local lines remain, except for the interurban line to Delft which has even been extended 20 years ago. It now has more of a city tram line vibe though, but a short section through less dense urban area still gives off the interurban feeling. The combined freight and tram line also still remains, but every remainder of the freight trains is long gone. 3 Link to comment
cteno4
Great video, but wanted to see the final result! Hopefully a follow up soon. How has the tram diner done? Jeff Link to comment
Densha
I've only been able to find this video of the 'opening' on facebook (should be viewable without a facebook account): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=527904043981281 I think there are gaps in the table to keep your wine glass and plates from sliding on the table and falling on the floor. Anyway, it's pretty much haute-cuisine so only destined for people with a more than average income. Edited July 23, 2014 by Densha Link to comment
