bikkuri bahn
A ruling party project team for promoting construction of new Shinkansen lines has decided to call on the government to open routes currently under construction three to five years ahead of schedule. However, additional spending of ¥500 billion is needed to bring the schedules forward. The source of the funds, and how they will be raised, will be the focus of discussions on compiling the budget for fiscal 2015, to be finalized toward the end of this year. http://the-japan-news.com/news/article/0001417209 Link to comment

katoftw
It's a weird system where rent come from newly opened lines is collect for 30 years, then this rent pays for new lines to be built. So now as that alot of lines cross most parts of the Islands, and some are more than 30 years old. That rental income is decreasing, they are running out of funds? And attempting to get more funding from government? Link to comment
keitaro
actually i got the impression it`s not jr wanting it to speed up but some third party, likely some company with assets in construction wanting more cash lol. "A ruling party project team for promoting construction of new Shinkansen lines" what ever that means Ruing party might be a section of elected officials in govt wanting the main govt to put more cash in. any ideas?? Still if the funding does happen they may speed up opening additional stations to the line which could help. i guess thats the aim. Link to comment
