Guest ___
I'm pretty sure I've popped my head in or looked around a few of the over 250 J-trains, I've ridden in the past five trips, but have to say that this is the first time I've seen a shrine charm dangling off an overhead pannel before. This one was on right side of an Iyotetsu 3000-kei train as seen here atTakahama-eki. Was half tempted to see if I could buy it or bribe the motorman to give it to me so I could add it to the 15 or so shrine charm I had already bought that week. I sort collect them. 1 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Keihan has amulets for transport safety mounted on all their trains (on the upper portion of the cab bulkhead), as well as their buses and ferries on Lake Biwa (the institution providing the amulets is Osaka Naritasan). cteno4
Aaron you never noticed the wooden one we have on the guest bathroom door! Also metal one on the dash of the civic! Jeff Link to comment
Guest ___
Can't speak for your cars, Jeff, but under Japanese tradition, the amulet is suppsoe to be returned after each year to the shrine to be burned and then issued a replacement. I'd hate to have to replace all of them on the Keihan. BTW: This was the only train on Iyotetsu that I rode that I noticed it. After I saw this one, I Started looking at each cab for the follwing week, but only saw it on thais one particular cbb. Link to comment

Guest ___
I can see them affixed to the driver's bag more so than to the trains themselves. Link to comment
