JRM's 10th anniversary!

Well it hardly seems like 10 years, but its coming up soon here! We will be having our annual meeting May 18 that will be the 10th anniversary of when we formed JRM to attempt to do a layout for the NMRA National meeting that summer. we did not make that event, but we were able to get the first layout together for a the Timonium Train show that October. 

 

Our annual meetings are on the club president's birthday celebration of Trains n scrapple. Every year Matthew has train friends over the sunday around his birthday to play trains and have a brunch of scrambled eggs and scrapple (for those not from the NE its basically a loaf of everything not fit to be in a hot dog that you fry up - makes spam seem healthy). it was at these get togethers that over a few years the nucleus formed to finally decide to do something together as a group with trains and thus JRM was borne 10 years back.

 

so if anyone is in the DC area on the 18th  come on over to the shindig. vegimite is also usually served (and last year we had a brit vs aussie vegimite vs marmite taste off) and we of course have show and tell and play with trains. small business meeting but the rest of the time is just fun time.

 

this year we also have a special treat as Warner Brothers is releasing the new Godzilla film in honor of our anniversary on that weekend so we will be trooping down to the theatre later in the day to catch the show.

It remains to be seen whether that's a treat or not.. The previous Hollywood Goji movie wasn't exactly what one would call a good Goji movie ;)
