Sacto1985
YouTube user SemiCrossSeat filmed this side view video of a complete trip on the Hayabusa limited express train on the Tōhoku Shinkansen line from Tokyo to Shin-Aomori Stations: However, I'm not sure when this video was filmed, even though it was posted on 30 January 2014. As such, I'm not sure if the video was filmed before or after JR East raised the speed limit on the E5 Shinkansen trainset to 320 km/h. Link to comment
Densha
I thought the speed limit was raised to 320 km/h on the March timetable revision when the last E3 series were replaced with E6 sets. Link to comment
Sacto1985
I thought the speed limit was raised to 320 km/h on the March timetable revision when the last E3 series were replaced with E6 sets. If remember correctly, the E5 trainsets were uprated to 320 km/h on 16 March 2013 to on the Tōhoku Shinkansen line north of Utsunomiya Station if they running by themselves on the Hayabusa service. The E5 coupled with other trains running the Komachi/Super Komachi service were limited to 275 km/h (E5 + E3) and 300 km/h (E6 + E6); with the complete switch to the E6 on the Akita Shinkansen run, as of mid-March 2014 the E5 + E6 coupled combination can now run at 320 km/h. Sacto1985
By the way, I got a response from the YouTube member--it was filmed at the beginning of this year, so the train was travelling at 320 km/h on certain parts of the line between Utsunomiya and Morioka. Link to comment
