Sacto1985
Note that the train announcements are in Japanese only, too. On the JR East Narita Express and the Keisei Skyliner, the announcements are in Japanese, English, Mandarin dialect Chinese and Korean. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Likely because most foreign visitors are not going to be traveling by the local/kaisoku. Unless you're a railfan, of course. Link to comment
westfalen
I have often travelled to or from Narita and Kansai airports by the local trains, much more interesting not flashing trough all the stations so fast you can't even read the names and you can usually get up behind the driver for a cab view on the local trains. Not to metion quite a bit cheaper if your JR pass hasn't started yet or has run out the day before, the trip from Narita into Tokyo is about the same fare as the trip into Brisbane from the airport but about seven times the distance.
