nartak
Just visited Tokyo Metro's railyard at Kita-Ayase. This is home of their Chiyoda line trains. As this place is not so far from my home, I visited several times taking with my kids together. The good part is there is a pedestrian bridge across whole railyard and we can see trains from above them. Unfortunately local government decided to close this pedestrian bridge as of end of March as there are newly made road which now crossing underneath of the railyard and this pedestrian bridge became no use other than watching train. So we can't see this view anymore... I just share some photo. The silver train is Eidan 3000, which is old Hibiya Line. It seems they are preserving it. Destination set to Higashi-Ginza 4 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Oh, that's very nice to see an Eidan 3000 type preserved in the Tokyo area! Unfortunately the last 5000 type is being put out of service with the 'new' 05 type on the Kita-Ayase branch line. I'd really like a model of both of them. I'm keeping my hopes up for MicroAce for making a 3-car 05 type... I heard Kita-Ayase station is going to be extended from a 3-car platform to a 10-car platform to accommodate full size trains from the Chiyoda line and end the through services from the Odakyu line there, instead of Kita-Senjū. Also, after doing some research, I found out that there used to be plans to extend the line to Noda-shi (with crossing the JR Musashino line at Koshigaya Lake Town), but these have been dropped for a new line (extension of the Yūrakuchō line) all the way from Toyosu. Is this correct? Link to comment

Is this correct? Dear Toni Babelony, My understanding is Tokyo Metro still holds a permit for railroad operation from Toyosu to Kameari. Then there is a plan to extending it to Noda-shi as you mentioned. However, there is no progress in that project so far. Tokyo Metro seems they are not planning to extend by themselves. So Koto-ku is looking feasibility to at least opening between Toyosu to Sumiyoshi by setting up 3rd sector company. But after Tsukuba Express in operation, possibility of route to Noda-shi is not realistic. Tokyo Metro normally doesn't operate outside of Tokyo, so who will operate this line going to Noda-shi, the city has only about 150,000 people and can't expect much user. Saitama Prefecture's (Noda is Chiba but most of the part of the line go through Saitama) current agenda is Saitama Railway to extend line from Urawa-Misono to Iwatsuki/Hasuda and almost no attention to this project. 1 Link to comment

ToniBabelony
I see, thank you for the information Mr. nartak! Noda-shi seems not so relevant indeed to Tokyo Metro, because of it's small size, but I saw a group in the Noda-shi city council that was rallying for this proposed line, with a direct connection to Tokyo before the 2020 olympics. Very ambitious, but probably a waste of energy. Also, with Tokyo Metro holding the license between Toyosu and Sumiyoshi (and Kameari) and JR East wanting to activate the freight line that connects the Keiyo-Sobu-Jōban line (Etchūjima Branch Line and Shinkin Freight Line), this will be an interesting competition in Shitamachi once more! :) Link to comment
