Sacto1985
YouTube member liveasakura filmed this zenmen tenbou video of trip on the Chichibu Railway from Kumagaya Station westward to Mitsumineguchi Station. Despite the lack of mounting the camera on a tripod (which can make the video occasionally hard to see), this video captures the rural, hilly geography on this line quite well. 2 Link to comment
kvp
A bit shakey but a good video! Was this a regular train or a special? Also does anyone have a detailed track map of the chichibu railway? (with station layouts) Link to comment
Sacto1985
I think it's a regular service, since the train stopped at every station along the way. Note two freight trains loaded with limestone rock waiting on sidings going the other way--those trains are operated on behalf of Taiheiyo Cement, the largest shareholder of Chichibu Railway. Chichibu Railway still runs a good number of passenger services because the line shown in the video goes by several well-known tourist attractions in the northwest Saitama Prefecture region. Note at the very end of the video a steam locomotive backing up--that is JNR Class C58 363, used on the Paleo Express train that runs on weekends between March and October.
