cteno4
Could be good chance to market and test stuff more, but also might be a huge extra cost... I hope this is not caught up on the executive think world where exec will say we have to have the is now no matter the cost. Most of the time I have experienced this its turned out to be a disaster of a decision with things rushed, not well thought out, very expensive and then in the end it turned out it was not a well researched idea and not really all that needed... http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2014/02/19/national/jr-tokai-may-open-new-maglev-train-station-in-yamanashi-before-20-olympics/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=jr-tokai-may-open-new-maglev-train-station-in-yamanashi-before-20-olympics#.UwY-5SieB9k cheers jeff Link to comment
kvp
This is a relatively simple extension, since they already got the money to build the tracks, but now that the line has some length, it's more visible that it has only one station. So they think that by adding a little to the end and building another station (actually just a platform) it might start to look like a proper train line and not as an expensive people mover. Anyhow, the article states that the Tokyo terminus would be Shinagawa. The exact place they are trying to raze and build apartement blocks on the site before 2020, so unless they allocate land for the maglev now, they will have no space to build the tokyo terminus. Not to mention there should be a way to eventually connect it to Tokyo station. Link to comment
