ToniBabelony
That looks pretty awesome! A self-propelled snowplow! That's not something you see every day on Japanese railways. At least, not in that size or not based on the DE10. Link to comment
Krackel Hopper
Looks very similar to the DD19 plow.. that I really wish MicroAce would release.. Link to comment

Sacto1985
I think JR Central and JR East could use a few of these in "prototype" form to clear out the snow from the Chuo Main Line--have you seen the pictures from Yamanashi Prefecture and further west along the line? Link to comment
miyakoji
I thought Russel head snow plows were specifically plows that are their own little cars and roll in front of a locomotive--not snowblowers or snow throwers, and not smaller plows connected directly to a maintenance-of-way locomotive. Not so? Link to comment

Not so? I believe you are correct, I think Russell was a brand name of that type of snow plow in the USA and the name has become one of those western words borrowed by the Japanese to have a much broader meaning than originally intended. Not so? I always thought of "russell plows" as that big wedge shape and I guess I was partly correct. The Russell Plow was a specific North American design, but not all wedge plows are considered russell plows. This appears to be a case where a specific name brand became the common name (like how some people call tissues a Kleenex, or any generic glass cleaner Windex) Given that, I don't think russell plow has to be a stand-alone car, but It does need to be a large wedge plow and not a rotary snow blower or thrower..
