JR 500系
I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but here's a write up with videos regarding the Toritetsu (i think this refers to the train enthusiasts that zoom in on train photo taking?) (Or Train Otaku or Tetchan) in other words Train enthusiasts' bad behaviour in Japan... To be frank, it hurts to see them being written like this, and made fellow train enthusiasts like myself ashamed abit... Nonetheless whatever they have written is true to a certain extend... http://en.rocketnews24.com/2014/01/04/train-enthusiasts-gone-wild-are-japans-train-photographers-losing-their-social-graces/ Perhaps that is why Train enthusiasts are being ranked the top in the list of guys that girls dislike? cteno4
Every hobby/activity has their bad boys/girls. Soccer hooligans, many football (American) fans etc can give the whole thing a bad name. Not much you as an individual can do about it except avoid the events where things tend to turn bad and behave politely and respectfully when you are doing it. westfalen
Is this something that has only become common since the arrival of cheap digital cameras and smart phones? Link to comment
Guest keio6000
Sure wish that i lived in a country where the slight overexuberance of harmless enthusiasts qualified as scandal. Link to comment
dottney
The 1st couple of videos show a whole bunch of toritetsu lining the platforms. Is this common or were these special gatherings of train enthusiasts? As noted above there are whack jobs in every hobby. Dave Link to comment
