video says it all.

also maybe a light saber across the finish line they either need to jump over or duck under as you have to finish in one piece to qualify...

pairs ice dancing where the guy cant touch the girl and can only use the force to throw the girl around.

Hello Mr Jeff,

Yes, I'm tired of the Olympics.  But not bored.  I'm tired of watching interviews of athletes who failed to perform, but laugh it off and say they're still enjoying themselves.  Great !!! ... so nobody try, but we all enjoy.  Perhaps I might enter the Luge next Olympic.  The Government can pay for me.  I'll come last.  But I'll enjoy myself and will be sure to tell you all about that.  I'm tired of hearing about athletes "hooking up" for casual sex and using phone apps to do the same.  Seriously.  I'm tired of gum chewing, louts on the half-pipe who listen to their ipods, with names like Joe "The-Hammer" Smith and Kelly "Slasher" Jones.

I'm over it.  I no longer respect the athlete at the Olympics.  So far as I can tell, the US has a gold medal in Twitter, while Australia picked up the gold in Facebook.  Japan has made the final of "Disfunctional Teenager" and we look set to pick up gold in that.

... Oh ... Apparently China is actually there to compete ... I let them "off the hook".

Funny, if I mentioned my opinion in public I would probably lose my job, friends, etc ... so ... to end ... let's "tow the party line" ...

Olympics ... yay ... gumbatte, ne! ... Japan is no: 1 ... let's go !!! yay !!!

I like watching hockey, but this might be the final Olympics where NHL stars are participating considering they don't exactly like the NHL effectively shutting down for 3 weeks in order to play at the Olympics ;)

As for that video, hilarious :D

E6,

The Olympics, like most all professional sports is no longer a personal best thing, its turned into a business. Ra ra, marketing and such has taken over so its no wonders what you see in the media reflects this and many of the athletes are now behaving this way, following he whole "social" flow. It's become social media and reality tv.

You can't watch the Olympics live you can only record them and then fast forward thru about 75% of the ads and prompted interviews.

The biggest shame is the amount of money that is now needed to put on games. It's getting totally out of hand to try to one up the last one, no longer about the games it's about the prestige it will bring and hoped for financial gains.

Thank you Mr Jeff,

I am very confuse.

I am very infatuated with the whole Korean women's short track team, especially Kim Alang.  I think, far more beautiful than Japanese team.  But if I tell my friend they will rebuke me for sure.

As to your latest link.  I think give them both a shovel and let them dig their way home.

sarcasm Yes, everywhere I go I see biathletes driving bugatti veryons and curlers competing on buying the largest yachts./sarcasm

i watch the olympics here in the UK with essentially no commercials.  the commercialism that you see isn't part of the olympics - it's part of the society where you live *as reflected on the olympics*.

go and watch the finals of today's women's cross country 4x5km relay and tell me again how it's not about amazing athletes.

Yes, yes, yes. Kamil Stoch from Poland - second gold medal in Sochi in ski jumping. And 42 years old Noriaki Kasai silver - amazing. Plus another gold for Poland today in speed skating.

I've been watching it through various livestreams, no commercials there.. However, the little bit they show on regular tv channels does have a lot of commercials..

Of course, hockey isn't shown in the Netherlands, so a stream is the only option to watch that anyway :)

I've got a rant on forcing kids into programs to 'develop' talents when they show aptitude for certain things... is this what the kids want or is it the parents living vicariously through their kids to attain dreams they were never capable of?

It leads into things like broken social lives and strictly monitored behavior... of which disappears after the events are over... leading to aforementioned wild sex parties... which are the business of mutually consenting individuals, not the news media, and definitely not the general public.
