westfalen
When I went for my usual Saturday lunch at my local MOS Burger today they had signs up that they were closing down on the 31st. Odd because for the two years thay have been open they have always seemed busy, even today I didn't get the chance to ask the busy staff why they were closing. Link to comment
E231-500
That's sad news. Hopefully it's an isolated closure and not the death of MOS burger in Australia. I was hoping they would open one in Perth soon as we already have Pepper Lunch here. Get your fill while it lasts! Link to comment
Claude_Dreyfus
I didn't realise they had a presence outside Japan...I'd love them to open a branch in the UK. Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Too bad to hear, but what a coincidence! Just today there was a program boasting about Japanese restaurants abroad. MOS was in the top 5 ranking of most shops outside of Japan. It's probably only doing well in Asian countries because of the name and fame in Japan. Pepper Lunch was ranked 4th in the list by the way ;) Link to comment
katoftw
guessing it is the booval location that is closing down? i wonder if it is just there or all locations? the other locations seems to be asian population heavy. is booval got a large asian community also? Link to comment
JR 500系
Mos Burger is still quite popular here in sillypore, with more than 20 outlets islandwide: http://www.mosburger.com.sg/mos_outlets.php I love its rice burger, together with its big and fat fries! Link to comment
westfalen
The sign in the store says their other stores will remain open. There are four other Australian stores, one in downtown Brisbane, one at suburban Sunnybank (where there is a large Asian population) and two on the Gold Coast (with lots of Asian tourists). The Booval store, which has been open about two years is a bit of a mystery as there is no resident Asian population. There was another restaurant at the location that had closed down and I got an unexpected but pleasant surprise one day when I saw a sign in the window of the vacant store saying "MOS Burger opening here soon". I took this photo not long after they opened Edited January 26, 2014 by westfalen Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Actually, if you're in the U.S., just go to a Tommy's Burger in LA, that is what the original MOS burger is based on. Link to comment
westfalen
They move quickly. I didn't get there on yesterday for a final burger because of work but this morning all items of value had been removed and all the shop fixtures had been piled up in the middle of the store. Link to comment
