Lawrence
They have reintroduced (modern) trams in Edinburgh, the idea was that it would run from one side of Edinburgh to the airport, the costs spiraled to over £750 million for a 14km (shortened) route and 2 years after work began they are still not running and wont be until next spring/summer, they have even spent £2 million trying to introduce wi-fi to trams and buses! who the heck is on a bus in a city centre long enough to surf the net, madness. That's our Scottish councils for you :icon_scratch: Link to comment
brill27mcb
Cincinnati was pretty unique in the U.S. for requiring a pair of trolley poles, and two parallel overhead trolley power wires, on its old streetcar system. The town fathers were very concerned about "ground" return current leakage from the rails into underground pipes, causing corrosion and premature failure. Therefore, they required a second overhead wire for "ground" return current, with the rails not carrying the electricity. Just like a trolley bus system, where there are no rails... Mudkip Orange
40 million a mile for streetcars in mixed-traffic with a worse accel/decel profile than the buses they replaced. *shakes head* Best thing you can say about this, at least it's not a convention center. Link to comment
