Need the re-release of the Micro Ace Odakyu 6000 MSE Romance car. The cheapest one I can find at all is near 4 figures. A re-release of the Tomix Odakyu 5000 VSE would be nice (very unlikely given the last release was only 2 years ago) . Romance Cars in general are just so hard to collect.

I see them from time to time, but they are being sold at incredibly ridiculous prices. I'm glad I got the 3 I liked when I did.

I've bought doubles on some of my favourites and for trying to convert to DCC.

Yes, the MSE has grown ridiculously in price on the second hand market. And the VSE likewise. Give it a year or two and I think the prices will go down again. Except for a few very rare sets, they always are on a strange yoyo of interest/disinterest. People all want them at some point driving the price up, and then they start offloading them to restructure their collections.

Aside from the some of the more obvious unicorns (500 EVA, TRAIN SUITE SHIKISHIMA, TWILIGHT EXPRESS MIZUKAZE), I would love if they re-released the Seven Stars in Kyushu or even more, the TGV Sud-Est. I wish that LEMKE/HobbyTrain will commission KATO to do a run of those again.

One is "what re-release" and the other is "what unlikely release". So technically not the same thing, but maybe they are a bit redundant and a simple "what release would you like to see" would be better.

@Lessigen The TGVs are not commissioned by Lemke or HobbyTrain. They were always Kato's own projects.

Interesting, from what I searched I did see the Lemke name attached with them. Maybe it was misattributed, thanks for correcting.

We could merge them, they both are over 10 years old and have a long string of posts so things may get a little scrambled, but this is not a topic really meant for reference later, more of just an ongoing conversation. They are a tad redundant and many may not know what they want to see released is an unlikely one and even saying what is unlikely is just an educated guess most of the time and up for a lot of debate.

Does anyone have a guess on when Kato might rerelease their D51 498 and JR East 12 series coaches (SL Gunma Minakami)? I'm weighing between waiting for a rerelease with potential improvements, or ordering the 2022 releases (2016-A and 10-1720) before they get too expensive.

TBH it's probably not worth waiting for a re-release if you can find both models for a fair price at a retailer.

The only improvements that KATO has made to their D51 is a metallic silver cross head and combination lever (comparison near the bottom of this page), which was only introduced last year.

Assuming you can't find one though, it's kind of hard to say when KATO will do a re-release since their cycles can vary wildly. Especially SL's are somewhat slow to re-release, but since this is a preserved loco that runs I'd say that you can expect one within a few years perhaps? (No guarantees though 😛)

Yeah I wouldn't be waiting since the previous release was so close.  Most retailers don't even give a discount for pre-orders these days.
