Guest ___
Doubt anyone can explain this odd station move can they? 2 Link to comment
Densha
I think the switch-back was made because of limited space. And since this station was built many ages ago in 1929 they just didn't change anything. Link to comment
the_weird_one
Would make quite a good little diorama Link to comment
cteno4
Well can't do a passing track for the station there or platform would be on a slope. Need the other siding to allow a place for the train to park while diver changes ends. Fun, nice detail to model! Thanks Jeff Link to comment
miyakoji
Good find Shashinka, and several other good videos by that uploader. Link to comment
kvp
It looks like the station originally had a more complex track structure but then it was simplified: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/坪尻駅 Very interesting prototype. It's a great find, thanks! 2 Link to comment
Blevins18
This is a neat little switching puzzle to incorporate into a layout! 1 Link to comment
Guest ___
I think the switch-back was made because of limited space. And since this station was built many ages ago in 1929 they just didn't change anything. Well, I went there. And all I can say, there is NOTHING around. It was like a three hour wait between local trains, so I had time to wonder off from the station and literally, if I saw a dozen houses within a mile in either direction I would be exaggerating that number. With the time it takes to do the switching, it would be better to just schedule a few extra minutes at Tsukuda which already has two tracks, or Awaikida which has I think three or four tracks. Again Shiroi is the same way. It splits off the main in to the station so you have to make a reversing move. These moves take time, and they force the L'Ex trains to hold at Awaikida for a little bit of time. The two times of watching the move, you can see them haul ass to get in to the siding to allow the L'Ex to get through the interchange without delay. 1 Link to comment
