traindork
My brand new Kato E4 seems to have a loose wire. I can't figure out how to open the motor car. Any help? Link to comment
CaptOblivious
It's a little tricky, but not too hard. The shell is held on by four tabs—two at each end, right next to the gangways. On one side, gently pry them away from the frame, lifting the shell up (you can use the gangway to help get some leverage). Once it's loose, do the same to the other side. Don't forget which way it was put on!! There are actually no wires inside! Just some brass strips. The rest of it comes apart pretty easily; take the blue upper seating off first, then you can get to the plastic motor housing. Is that helpful? I can post photos tomorrow evening if you need more help. Link to comment
traindork
Thanks for the info. I'd seen the tabs but didn't know if there was something else holding it together. I'll give it a go later in the week and let you know if I need any more info. Maybe one of the brass strips is loose. So much for my loose wire theory. :D Link to comment
traindork
Took it apart and put it back together. Now it runs like a Kato. :D I don't know where the problem was. Thanks for your help! :) Link to comment
