Guest keio6000
here is my modest collection of keisei trains. i also have a number of keisei buses not pictured. my focus here again is on a quasi 1980s-1990s keisei, though i am in theory not averse to adding a more modern example as well. the 3700 is a well built GM kit. however, only 4 of the cars have underbodies/bogies at this point for whatever reason. for me the only skyliners are the original old school AE-1s. i have it in both the original brown and the adidas tracksuit blue. the microace 3200s are beautiful with the 'toei asakusa throwback' livery being a nice splurge. there's maybe one or two potential additions for my microace collection and that should cap it off. the new skyliner is attractive, but in a bland sort of way. the previous one (AE-100 or whtever it was), well, let' just say it had a nice personality. again sorry about the poor photos as i only have my ipad with me for photos at the moment. ToniBabelony
Nice collection! I envy your AE1s... I really would like to have an early 90s version (or a brown one to repaint). However! Now my inner Keisei fanboy gets on the loose. - Only the 3700 type 3rd series, 3300 and 3200 have ran together at some point. - To be extremely precise, the 3200 you have there is set no. 3298 (3298~3295) in its outfit from January the 28th, 2007 (with Kaiun (開運号) headmark). The livery is not the Asakusa Subway livery, but the classic Keisei 'Akaden', red train livery (not to be confused with the Fire Orange livery). That livery was used up to 1980 and used on the 3298 as a revival livery from January 2007 until March 2007 (when the unit was put out of service). - The 3700 was introduced in 1991, but the version you have there is the 3rd, which came out in 1995. - The AE1 type Skyliner went out of service around 1991~1994 and five out of the six sets were rebuilt to the 3400 type. Next to that, the 6-car brown version of the AE1 type never ran together with the 8-car blue version, as the two extra (provisional) cars were added in 1990 to the fleet. The fleet was painted blue in 1983 already back then. - The 3200 type 6-car train is set no. 3240 (3261, 3262, 3243~3240), in new standard Keisei painting. It has been around since mid-1995 until March 2007. I have one myself as well. It's a sweet little thing, which is going to be repainted. :evil1: Or maybe sold... It doesn't really fit into my field of interest unfortunately. So essentially, you have a late-2000s era collection (28-01-2007 precisely) with two oddities which are the AE1 types... :P An 80s and early 90s collection would consist of a fleet of Fire Orange trains and the AE1 in its blue jacket. Guest keio6000
Hi Toni, Excellent! Thanks for the good info. I had no doubt that my Keisei collection was not wholly contemporaneous, though I just kind of assumed that the 3200s went back a bit further than you seem to think they do (though i assumed tht the colorful was one was a more recent throwback in fact i may have even ridden on it). About the 'Toei Asakusa' livery - I understand, but isn't it the same basic livery? My wife says 'please say no' since the actual MicroAce old school toei asakusa train has been on the periphery of my wish list for some time, blocked only by my belief that it's vaguely similar to this one (sorry i dont have my catalog here, but you know which one i mean). now what i really want is a 3500 or 3600, but am holding off on the GM versions as i think MA will make one sooner or later. the MA 3000/3050 or whatever it is is nice but a bit pricey for a somewhat bland train not in my 'core' collecting sphere (I made a bid on one once on yahoo but lost by 500 yen :)) . I am at a remote location now on a short working holiday (M-F) visitng one of my remote offices. in the evenings if i am not totally exhasted from work i can visit smoe of my trais in storage. hence these photos. my collection is not entirely organized and actually in visitng them in storage i am organzing them a bit, too. ToniBabelony
Glad to finally put my Keisei knowledg to use xD Keisei switched to their modern livery around 1991~1994 (the 3700 type being the first to wear the red-blue stripes). The 'Toei Asakusa livery', is generally called 'Akaden' livery was first used by Keisei in 1959 on the 3050 type, whereas the Toei Asakusa trains (5000 type) were delivered in 1960. The Keisei 3000 type was also repainted from 'Aoden' livery to 'Akaden' livery in 1960. The difference between the Toei Asakusa livery and 'Akaden' livery is that the 5000 types had the silver stripes pointed downwards. Also, if you want the Toei 5000, don't go for the MicroAce version. They have terrible running issues. If you can live with the massive motor, go for Greenmax. Photo courtesy by Greenmax (http://www.gm-store.co.jp/blog/blog01/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/s-PC050575.jpg) Anyway, I also DESPERATELY want the 3500 and 3600 types to be released by either MicroAce or Greenmax! The Greenmax 3500 type kits are unfindable and the 3600 is virtually nonexistent (apart from a rare Yellow Train kit). The only light in the tunnel is the release of the Keikyū 1000 economy kits being re-released very soon (making you able to produce the Keisei 3000 ~ 3150 types). :D Link to comment
Guest keio6000
thanks again, keiseiguru! "running issues?" you mean to tell me that my n gauge trains could theoretically actually run on this massive collection of track i've stored up in boxes? good to know :). Seriously though - running is not my primary concern (for exmaple, i'd take a well finished MA over a kit built no matter how good GM any day). That said, now that I see the Eidan 8000 is to be released by MicroAce, the Toei 5000 is less of an issue for me. Unfindable? Finished examples regularly come up on yahoo jp, no? I remember seeing one not too long ago. Don't remember what the price was. Edited November 15, 2013 by keio6000 Link to comment
