Nice idea to use the powered bogie of a Kato EF510 to power the loco.

I think it is intended as a generic model, designed around the kato bogie.  The closest prototype would be the Swiss locomotive. In fact, the Japanese description of the model states the locomotive outline is based on a foreign "motif".

It's a cute little engine but definitely Swiss outline.  It does say the model is based on an overseas model in the description.  Maybe Cosmic is starting to look outside of Japan.

I doubt it - I guess they are little known inside Japan, let alone outside. Although derived from a Swiss prototype, some details (cab windows) are firmly Japanese...
