Guest bill937ca
The Nagoya Railroad has begun to phase out its 7000 series Panorama cars and they should roll their last miles in two years in 2010. The design dates back to 1961 and the last cars were built in the 1980s. http://www.gaijinpot.com/read_news.php?id=8245 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsGmdJaWyHM&feature=related Recently these cars have been available from Tomix in solid red and with a white stripe denoting special service cars. Bernard
Bill, Do you know what is going to replace them and what actually is special service? For trains that is over 20 years old they're in remarkable condition. Link to comment
Guest bill937ca
Special service would include charter runs. I know where I saw the reference but I can't find the exact passage itself. I believe the newest cars are the blue and white cars in the attached graphic, but the two types of red and white cars could also be found on runs formerly operated by Panorama Cars. These generally are two door cars. Ordinary cars have three doors. http://www.meitetsu.co.jp/english/surcharge/index.html Link to comment

For trains that is over 20 years old they're in remarkable condition. From Electric Railways of Japan, Volume 2 (circa 1985) page 31: "Two 4 car train sets are distinguished from the other stock with a white belt stripe, are equipped with more comfortable seats and are used for Limited Express and charter service."
