Their big, dirty and smoky and you would think, pretty ugly, being all black with all those pipes and what not. But put one in front of a train and run it down the road and the world just becomes a better place. westfalen Posted August 8, 2013 Share Posted August 8, 2013 That whistle was just made to echo through the mountains. :) I rode behind D51 498 on one of her regular runs from Takasaki to Minakami in 1997 and she was just loafing along without any effort, its good to see her given an outing on a line where she can flex her muscles. 1 Link to comment
