cteno4
Thanks bill, very nice! A transfer table with a roof! Wonder what the purpose of the roof is! That sucker can move at a good clip. Them sis some long maintenance sheds! Going to have to add 3 or 4 more kato sheds to the 6 on the JRM layout to get it to full 16 car length! Those shops are also so clean. bikkuri bahn
I've been to this event. It's a good one, but I rate the Tohoku Shinkansen open day at Rifu-cho a little bit higher (the technical demos are better). Link to comment
Ronny
A transfer table with a roof is usual in Europe Link to comment
Martijn Meerts
Jeff, how about a transfer table for 16 car shinkansen? That's be quite a sight ;) Link to comment
cteno4
just curious why a roof on the table? seems still a big gap from shop to table so if it was to move something that was opened up in the rain it would still get wet. ok on a closer look it looks like there is not a huge gap to the workshop entrances. but is it just for rain? ahh that would be fun martijn! ive alway been fascinated with transfer tables. built one when i was a kid after i scratch built a turntable (was too poor as a kid to afford a kit, amazing what no money will get you, old geared motor, some rail from old flex track etc). was fun. want to do it again here for both maintenance yard and for trams. jeff Edited July 24, 2013 by cteno4 Link to comment

It could be because this is during the rainy season. Cars are probably moved from one section of the shop to another section. If they get wet it would have to sit in the shop until clean and dry. Ronny
Rain and snow are probably the reason of the roof. Link to comment
