Cab ride on a local from Unazuki Onsen to Dentetsu Toyama on this most charming of provincial interurbans. Although it's a local train, the motorman makes good use of Chitetsu's 90kph speed limit and really hustles between stops. One can see glimpses of Hokuriku Shinkansen construction, which is in a very advanced stage in this area. One victim of the Shinkansen is Chitetsu's track connection to JR at Toyama station, reduced to a stub and rendered useless by JR track elevation. No more one will be able to see a Thunderbird stabled at Tateyama after bringing a charter... I wonder if they plan to reinstate the connection somewhere else - I doubt it...
