Densha
The point is: what would have happened if this was in the middle of a city? And true, riding any vehicle brings a danger but this is definitely not good either. Link to comment
cteno4
same thing a diesel bus would, flames and thrown burning liquid PLUS shrapnel. point is it takes longer for the tanks to go and time to evacuate folks and get fire response there. gas/diesel go faster. jeff Link to comment
brill27mcb
Back to your original question: The bus will not follow the rails for the sme reason that you can not pick up the rails wih a magnet. The rails are non-ferrous and non-magnetic. The front wheels may jiggle and cause the bus to swerve when they hit the flangeway in the road surface, so it's best to have the bus cross rails at a 90 degree angle. Rich K. HHmm... it made me wonder how the buses will not follow the metal rail track instead of the metal wire that runs across the crossing.. Link to comment

That made me wanna try that! Remembered the video whereby a guy actually made a crossing and the bus stopped before the crossing. That will be important as certainly a bus crashing into a moving train is not a good sight... One of those Osaka buses looks to be a CNG bus.Last year a CNG bus in a neighbouring town of mine, the type that is also used where I live, suddenly caught fire. The fire expanded to the gas tanks on top of the buses which led to the gas expanding because of the heat. That led to the pressure valves opening to prevent explosion, but because there was fire it resulted in an enormous flamethrower of 20 meters long! Be warned, if you watch this video you might never want to ride any CNG bus again: http://www.regio15.nl/actueel/lijst-weergave/20-branden/13972-aardgasbus-in-brand-wittenburgerweg This even made it to the international press. Last month a report from the inspection of safety was released and they said there isn't anything wrong with these buses, oh yes there is. Wow! Now that is risky! A flame thrower! CNG is also available here, but it's slowly dying out as the cost of the installation of the system and the gas doesn't justify the need for that, as in longer term petrol is still cheaper, not to forget that there are only 3 CNG stations in Sillypore as compared to tons of petrol stations around.. Further to my post above regarding the new limited edition bus collection releases: The Enoden buses are already out on Yahoo Japan since they're release yesterday : http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n122987927 In fact, there're tons of them on sale at Yahoo, and they all sell higher than their actual selling price... JR 500系
I have purchased the Tomytec bus syatems but dont have an English manual for putting it all together. Can anyone help. Thanks Jim Hi Jim: I don't quite get what you meant by your question of putting it all together? Did you buy the basic set or just the chassis, or just the road pieces? The road pieces layout The road pieces are easily snapped together, so i think based on the picture on the outside box if you bought the basic set you can easily assemble the road pieces into the oval shape as shown. You can either place the bus stop on either the front straight or the rear straight. There is a switch on the bus stop to let you choose between letting the bus go through the bus stop, or want the bus to stop temporary at the bus stop. The bus will move away automatically once about 10 seconds are up. The bus chassis itself The motorised chassis comes with the basic set, so if you bought that it should be included inside. If not the chassis comes sold separately in BM01 or MB02 types, for 31mm and 35mm difference bus models. It depends which bus model you are motorising. It also depends if the bus model you are trying to motorise is already moving bus system ready. There is a sign stating BM01 or BM02 ready, so that means the model is ready for motorising. If there isn't, there is still a method to motorise it, but needs some modifications. Remove the bus outer body from the chassis. Place the battery LR44 size 2 numbers into the chassis battery compartment. Place back the body onto the motorised chassis. There is a tiny button on the bottom of the bus. Press that button and the bus is activated. Quickly place the bus on the track and it will move by itself. Sit back and enjoy! Hoped that helps~ Eh, from home, Enoshima is only 30 km away, less than 2 hours on the crummy mamachari. A pretty good workout. I think you can get about 10 per person, though I'd rather buy a few Kanagawa Chūō buses for that... I see... These special companies made bus models are always so sought after. Looking at the recent 'Nara' buses, they are selling at good profits like hotcakes! Link to comment

Jim Hi Jim: For the BM02 there are a couple of buses that is ready to fit without much modifications: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10178567 From the information here, we have: Mitsubishi Fuso MP218/618 (1) (4th) 5E Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (2) (9th) 58MC Engineering West (3) West one-step 96MC Engineering (4) (bullet 11) Mitsubishi Fuso Aero Star (5) (sometimes 15) One Step 7E Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (6) (bullet 16) Corresponds to the (open-N011 ~ 015) units set HT/HU5 Hino Blue Ribbon (7). Sounds complicating, but here's an easier list: The Bus Collection Fuji Heavy Industries 5E (5-Car Set) B http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10178562 The Bus Collection 2-Car Set D Fuji Heavy Industries 7E, New 7E (Model Train) (the first bus) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10191786 The All Japan Bus Collection [JB002] Transportation Bureau, City of Nagoya (Aichi Area) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10209262 The All Japan Bus Collection [JB004] Nishi-Nippon Railroad (Fukuoka Area) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10209266 The Bus Collection Ibaraki Kotsu Girls und Panzer Bus (FHI 7E) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10226751 The Bus Collection Vol.18 (12 types + 1 secret. 12 pieces) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10222619 (The last three Isuzu Erga buses) These are the ready to run models that are available now, there are other models from various collections that require modifications. JR 500系
Hi this is puzzling me and posting here to see if anyone can perhaps give a light on this? Yahoo Auction on the Girls and Panzer bus here: http://page12.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p361218290 Current going price is 1100yen! HobbySearch price on the same Girls and Panzer bus here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10226751 Going for 1080yen, although out of stock at the moment. Now i know HS is NOT the best price, especially for people in Japan. While i'm not sure if HS does deliver locally, but i think there are so many other stores around that does internal local delivery like Popondetta etc that is selling at slightly cheaper price than HS, and definitely cheaper than Yahoo Auction going price. So the question is, why are local Japanese still going for slightly inflated prices at Yahoo Auctions? Now for the rarer items that are dis-continued i can understand paying slightly higher for it, but for just released items that are available almost everywhere in a train hobby shop that sells Tomytec? That i can't understand... Link to comment

Local credit pricing is higher, check out the Japanese page: http://www.1999.co.jp/10226751 The first price (1,008) is "Collect on delivery Prepaid Sale" the second (1,134) is "credit card, convenience store deferred payment" (per Google translate). And I don't know why it's 1,108 Yen here and 1,080 Yen on the English page. Link to comment

It looks shorter too.. Speaking of which, two new models came up for the 'Whole Japan Bus collection' (全国バスコレクション) here: Number JB011 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10246994 This rainbow bus looks great! One more to pre-order! Number JB012 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10246995 Okayama Bus Doesn't state whether it is compatible with the moving bus system, but my guess is it should since all others in the series are compatible, probably with BM-02. I missed that one completely! cheers jeff Hi Jeff - This set is the Enoden bus set. It's a special set only made and sold by manufacturers at special events (i think that's only 6000 sets produced). It comes with another Enoden bus, but this "Enokun" bus is the bus i've been targeting for long now, and finally it's in my hands ~ The printing is remarkable and fantastically cute! And yes, because it's not sold in retails, Yahoo Auction is the only choice... I gotta get me some buses soon. Sorry if its not tomytec, but does anyone got feedback on Kyosho 1:150 buses? Display only? Pricey? Mardon Hi Mardon, you shoudl! Tomytec buses are super detailed and one just can't get enough of them! I can't comment much on Kyosho buses as i do not have them, but i think they're very detailed too, even matchable to Tomytec standards. They even have attachable side mirrors that you can attach to the bus. Pricey yes, since it retails about 700+ yen per bus, but definitely detailed.
