Hello from Germany!

Guten Tag! :)

 

My name is Sebastian and I'm from Germany. Glad I found an English-speaking site about Japanese things. I’m not into model trains, I prefer a bigger scale: 1:18 Die-cast.

I know that this site is about smaller things, but maybe you guys (and girls?) can help me anyway. I’m planning to build some kind of photolocation / diorama for my Japanese darlings (cars). I want it to look as Japanese as possible. I’ve been studying many pics from the internet, and slowly I get an idea what gives that special “Japanese thing” to buildings, streets and so on.

 

I can’t build complete cities like you guys (I’d need a large house for that) but I want to create a small section in a Japanese town: A car-workshop with a large place in front or behind, maybe some kind of backyard to display more cars or to take photos of them in their “natural habitat”.

 

So I hope you can give me advices how to make it more and more Japanese and you don’t mind the large scale I use. And please excuse my humble English; feel free to correct strange phrases, that helps me to improve ;)

welcome! I think if you poke around the forum you will find all sorts of interesting bits that will fit into your street models. its a big part of what we do with the model train scenes to fill in the stuff off the tracks, so many here are interested in these scenes and ideas as well! Luxury (and probably curse as well!) at your scale to do lots of detail! there are some 1/6 scale modelers on the forum as well.

 

one great thing to get ideas is to use google street view. its one way to find really interesting little scenes that you might model. i do this all the time and find all sorts of really cool buildings to model and details to think about doing. great way to get a set of items to mix and match into a scene that really feels japanese!

 

post some picts of your japanese cars would be interesting to see!
