Sacto1985
Question: are these the old Tokyu Corporation trams that ran in the Tokyo area? Were they phased out in favor of subway lines and commuter rail? 1 Link to comment
gmat
The old and defunct Tamagawa Line used to run from Shibuya to what is now the Futako-Tamagawa Station at the Tama River. The current Setagaya Line was a branch line. The Den-en-toshi Line pretty much replaced the Tamagawa Line. Tokyu operated a replacement bus service from 1969 until the underground Den-en-toshi Line was completed in 1977. More info can be found here in the Wiki entry for the Den-en-toshi Line. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tōkyū_Den-en-toshi_Line Best wishes, Grant 2 Link to comment
Mudkip Orange
It's sort of amazing how little traffic control there is in these videos. Roads have no lanes, not even a center stripe. At at 4:45 you have an oblique tram crossing of a six-lane arterial with no more than a blinking yellow light (which appears to be ignored by drivers until the tram is right up on them).
