VentureForth
Now my DS11 is sick. Where can I find rubber traction tires? Anything domestic in the US that'll work? Link to comment

VentureForth
Hi E6. A generic traction tire from my LHS worked just fine. Thank you! Link to comment
cteno4
Jim, so it was a traction tire, not a rubber band? Jeff Link to comment
VentureForth
Hi Jeff. What I got from my LHS was a red rubber band - much like one used by orthodontists for teeth. I didn't measure the diameter, but it was a rubber band that was red that my LHS offered. She just gave me four of them. Originally, I tried to use one from a Bachmann set that I had which had very thin spare ones that were black. I tried those, but they were too big around. It seems to be that the traction wheels on steam locos are slightly larger than the detented traction of diesels. She just asked me Diesel or Steam? I said Diesel, she said Give these a try, I did, and they are magnificent. The DS11 uses two - one on each powered truck. I wish I knew more about them, but that's it. Link to comment
VentureForth
Ok... I think I found the details. I believe these are Calumet Trains 192-1505 Vinyl Super Traction tires. Page 99 in the 2013 Walthers catalog. Not 100% sure, but pretty positive. Link to comment
cteno4
Cool, thanks. Just was wondering if some rc part might be a traction tire in a pinch. You have a good lhs to have traction tires in stock! Thanks Jeff Link to comment
