Nick_Burman
For all its efficiency and punctuality, sometimes things do go wrong on the Japanese rail system...in this case it was on the Oigawa Railway, where one of the rack locomotives decided to misbehave at Nagashima Dam station, breaking down (?) before entering the tunnel. Maybe one of the members of this forum who knows Japanese could please enlighten us over what exactly happened by providing a rough translation and explanation of the commentary given by the train's conductor over the P.A. system, because my Japanese ended at "aputo kikansha" and "diseru". The conductor seems to be a pretty smart guy, given the laughs over his commentary. One thing in Oigawa's favour, they were very quick in sending a bus to fish the stranded passengers out... bikkuri bahn
All I got was "mechanical trouble with the abt locomotive". 1 Link to comment
Nick_Burman
Thanks BB. The funny thing was that the crew fired up the diesel, expecting the pee-wee thing to get that hunk of an e-lok out of the rack section. Nothing like some wishful thinking...in the end they managed to cajole the rack loco to work enough to shove the train back to the station. Cheers NB Link to comment
