marknewton
What looks to be a nice model from a new manufacturer - or at least one that's unfamiliar to me. I really like EMUs in the Shonan livery... :) http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10232499 Cheers, Mark. 2 Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
Interesting. The maker, Dentetsu Koubo, previously has released super premium (300,000 yen and up) models of private railway prototypes, for the so-called Oosama market (old rich guys). This appears to be their first venture in "affordable" plastic. I think I'll hold off on reserving until I can see the product in person- the prototype is something I like though- an early 115 series w/o aircon and the dekame (large) headlights. marknewton
Well, I've paid for the things and they're on their way to me, so I'll post some photos and a review when they arrive. As an aside, I recall making the comment in another thread that I wasn't planning on having a large fleet of Japanese-prototype models, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside. I went to the club last night and managed to run an 11-car passenger train, a 9-car passenger train, an 8-car EMU, a 27-car freight and two 3-car DMUs. I ran out of travel/storage boxes, or I would've taken more trains! :) Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
bikkuri bahn
I saw a 4 car set on display this Sunday at Imon Models in Yokohama- very cursory inspection showed detail levels similar to Tomix. This blog has many pics of the model, and side by side comparison with a later mark of the 115 series once offered by Tomix (now OOP). It seems Tomix's version has slightly more fine molding in some spots, though barely perceptible. However, to me the Dentetsu Kobo offering is more attractive to me as the mark is an early version, rather than the aircon prepped version w/small headlights per the Tomix. So far the model is only available as a 4 car starter set. 2 Link to comment
