You bad man.... ;D I see you have managed to obtain a Nankai Railway 50000 Series unit. Someelse on this forum is I'm sure thinking exactly the same thing....

It's me. it's me......How did you get that set??  :o :o

I only found it once when it was posted here as a listing on ebay but with the shipping and "buy it now" offer, it was just too expensive. Gordon, your roster gets better with every post.

Okay, I'll add my offerings.

The observant amongst you all will no doubt note that all this lot operate in the Tokyo area.

All these units are Kato, and from left to right are:

Superview Odoriko - with four-car add-on set

Nanohana (also seen it called Colza Flower)

Odoriko set

Resort 21 (Izu)

Asuza Kaiji

Narita Express

I was very lucky with the Rapi:t. Got it in Feb last year just looking through a dealer on the bay called Samurai Express. I had only been in the hobby for a month and did not know much about it, it just caught my eye and cost 94 pounds including shipping from Japan to Oz. He also included a dvd that went for over a hour of trackside footage. Some of the shots were close enough to make the camera shake a little.

Claude - real nice fleet, I quite like the Asuza Kaiji.

ChrisV - cant wait to see your pics. Doesn't matter how many there are, i think these photos give everybody a better idea of what is available. After seeing some of these pics I have added a few to my wish list that I had not even considered when looking at the dealer pictures.

Series 281 Haruka (Kato, 6 cars) in the mail

Ack! That's one of my favorites. I passed on one for $120 on ebay a while back, since I had just bought $$$ of track etc., but now the only one on there is $200 with shipping.

(and thanks for starting this thread!)

Nankai Railway 50000 Series Rapi:t (Microace, complete)

I only have two problems with this train:

1) It looks like a Romulan train.  :)

2) I can't help thinking the ":" in the name is like a "*" waiting for a letter to be filled in. And unfortunately (and not to make a joke about this, or be creepy) the only letter that makes an actual word is "s."  :-\

Sadly, I rode the Haruka, and was on my list of sets to buy, but they're jsut going for too much money these days.

285-3000 Series Sunrise Express. JR Central Version (Kato, complete)

The Sunrise Express is such cool design--somewhere on Flickr I found pictures of the the inside of one of the cars. It'd be great to see a picture of the whole set.

Anybody else have anything to post to this thread? It was off to a good start, and these trains are some of the most interesting designs....

Can you post the photos of the interior of the Sunrise Express? Most of the time you get to see the outside of a train but not always the interior.

And another from a different user, who seems to have had a compartment, whereas the sleeping areas above looked almost like "dorm" or hostel accomodation:

That's a nice one--I don't really care for their color choices, but the train itself is pretty interesting.

In pictures, it's alright. But in person, it's a stunning model. After acquiring, it quickly became one of my faves; it's a very attractive train. So much so that I also put in a reservation for it's brother, the Super Kamui (just waiting patiently for them to release it heh heh). But it's a shame that the train is only an ok runner (older release) and the headlights suck (the white/bluish HID variety). Time to whip out the clear paint! Otherwise fantastic set, and almost impossible to find add-on sets outside of Japan.  :-[

Scott - great photos of the interior of the Sunrise Express, that is one train I would love to take a long trip on.

Yeah, it was really interesting to find those. I wouldn't mind taking a long trip on that one, either--but only after I'd taken a bunch of daylight trains, so I didn't feel like I was missing anything.  :)

This last pic I was trying out a new program that lets you combine the sharpest part of a series of pictures to produce one sharp overall picture. Still needs work as I cannot steady my camera without some kind of wireless shutter control, so ends up with slight ghosts. The program is called CombineZP for all those interested, and it's free. It seems to work really, really well, as long as you can steady the frames...

Anyways, as per my comments in the other thread re. photos and techniques - mods let's get a new photo/gallery/video forum started!  ;)

The pictures are so good that I'm pretty sure the trains aren't so gorgeous in real life. Me jealous.  ;D
