Cab ride in 5 parts on the Joshin Dentetsu, Takasaki to Shimonita - this is the first video, the others are available on the links on the side of the page. Steep grades and some very sharp curves denounce the line's 762mm gauge ancestry as the Ueno Railway.  The curves seem not to deter the road's two venerable AEG/MAN steeplecabs, which have become sort of railfan cult symbols. Speaking of them, here's another video  taken from the cab of one of the locos.
