Also is the first photo of the "O" series. if so, I wasn't sure if they were still running. The other thing that surprises me is how clean all the trains look, with modelers it's a big thing to weather trains but so far I haven't seen any worn down Shinkansens. Link to comment

I would say weathering is misplaced with most Japanese prototypes. Most equipment gleams. Even freight locomotives only have dirt on the roof. There is a lack of brick structures in Japan because of the risk of earthquakes. Link to comment

As a modeler, the roof is the only thing I would weather. The O series are still running in Kodama (local) service. The O series above is at Nishi-Akashi (Sanyo line). The 100 series is at Hakata station (Sanyo line). The 300 series is at Shizuoka (Tokaido line). The 500 series is at Hakata station (Sanyo line). The 700 series is at Nishi-Akashi (Sanyo line). The 700 series Hikari Railstar is at Hakata. (Sanyo line). The 800 series is at Shin-Yatsushiro.(Kyushu shinkansen). The 200 series is at Koriyama. (Tohoku Line). The 400 series is at Omiya station. (Tohoku Line). The E-1 MAX is at Omiya station. (Tohoku Line). The E-2 1000s "Hayate" are at Koriyama. The E-2 "Asama" is at Omiya. The E-3 "Akita" is at Koriyama. The E-3 1000 "Tsubasa" is at Omiya.
