Another crash, this time in Missouri

Is is just me, or does it seem the media is reporting more of these accidents recently, perhaps b/c of the Conn. accident?  Anyway, another example of piss-poor reporting- first of all LOL to the headline- highway overpass "damaged"?? It's fricken demolished!  Also, which railroads were involved?

It was probably reported because the train took out the bridge and closed the road.  I don't think there is any interest in trains or train accidents.

 

The railroads are BNSF and Uniion Pacific.  Apparently it was a T-bone so this would have been spectacular to witness.

I agree. We have incidents happen all the time that don't make news. A few weeks ago the volunteer fire department I used to work for, county FD, and the Army FD/HAZMAT spent five hours tracking down a chemical leak on a through CSX freight, and in our region we have about five train vs pedestrians a month. I worked one a few weeks ago in the city I work for now. Fortunately we haven't had any big incidents and we have two large CSX yards in our area.
