D51 Slug Conversion

Does anyone make parts to convert the Kato 2016 standard D51 into the original version? I like the detail on the Kato model and would like to have one of the original types with a similar level of detail without investing in brass. Unless I am missing something aside from possibly the tender the loco differences are significant but not extensive.

I have not seen a conversion kit so far on HS. As this is the new Kato 1/150 version it is likely they will issue a Slug version in he future. There are many variants and so far they have issued the preserved one D51 498 and a standard one. The smoke collectors and numbers were part of the freight set.

Thanks. If Kato is going to bring out a D51 Slug version to similar standards to their recent D51 models it would be worth waiting for and be much better than my modest conversion efforts.

Agreed, the new version is very good, hopefully Kato will issue this soon.
