Tomix & Kato are competing again..

 

Last month the pre-order for the Tomix Hamanasu set came out.  It's being released as a 7 car basic set, 4 car add-on, and single car add-on to create a 12 car consist.

Meanwhile, just today the pre-order for a Kato Hamanasu set came out.  It's being released as a 7 car basic set and 3 car add-on.  Creating only a 10 car consist.

The details you get with each are a little fuzzy in translation.  It sounds like Tomix gives you a headmark for a pair of DD51s, but with Kato the only headmark I can find mentioned comes with their ED79 release.

 

They both sound like good sets, but I'm still not sure which one to go with.  Hopefully pictures of the models get posted soon, that might help with the decision making.

 

Either way, it's interesting that both Kato & Tomix decided to do this set now.
