JR 500系
Wow! I was browsing through youtube until i came upon this: Didn't realise that it's FULLY automatic! Now how cool is that? What's interesting is the back train reverses! I thought the front train should just go forward? Here's another, for the super Asusa: Series 287: What's interesting about these is the ability for the diaphragm to automatically extend to the other car, and retract when required!Of course then there are the normal connections without the diaphragms, like the Super Hitachi: E233 Series: And the Special combination in Hokkaido for the Series 731 EMU and Kiha-201 DMU: Manual connection...Of course then there are my favourite shinkansens connections: E2 Hayate + E3 Komachi E4 Max Yamabiko + E3 Tsubasa And the latest E5 Hayabusa + E6 super KomachiSweet! I'll be sure to stand by with my camera on my next trip to Japan. Gotta get me one of these connection videos! Edited April 11, 2013 by JR500 のぞみ 3 Link to comment

JR 500系
Yes that was an epic failure... I remember watching this video somewhere back on the forum... Anyway, the guys were really strong and brave to try and attempt to stop the rolling train~... Luckily, the train didnt roll very far. If the grade was even steeper, it would be disasterous... Yep, the train would then roll straight into the JR East Yokohama line, blocking services to Yokohama. Link to comment
Densha
Shouldn't there usually be a guy in the train for the handbrake? I thought this was why it was eventually stopped. Link to comment

JR 500系
Following on with the topic of connecting/ coupling train videos, I found this: Although it was about female drivers, I actually never knew a 313 connects with a 211! Edited January 5, 2015 by JR500 のぞみ Link to comment
JR 500系
Just dropping this here: This was really interesting for the fact that we could clearly see how the driver controls the connecting speed... This video is also very interesting, a front view of the Shiokaze connecting to the Ishituchi: Edited December 8, 2015 by JR 500系 1 Link to comment
Robert46
Thanks for the nice post... I ever saw the JR experiment test for connecting double new E7 series, just like double E4 series coupled trains... hope they will make it in the future... Link to comment
