kevsmiththai
rather an unusual one this. Although we're mainly known for our 'Scale' z layouts on the U.K exhibition circuit like Cuyahoga and Midsomer Mardy we are also known for our more quirky offerings. over the years we have used Z scale to represent a model engineers park layout using 1/32nd figures (mardy model engineers) a model of an exhibiton model railway layout using Action men and Barbie dolls (Mardy model railway club) and our most obscure layout a model of a model shop again using Action men dolls (Mardy Model Shop) Think Dolls house but a lot more interesting!. However it has always been overshadowed by its more famous stablemates and has languished at the back of the layout store since 2004. Midsomer Mardy, Cuyahoga and Shasta have always been the preferred layouts to be invited to shows. So I have decided to sell it mainly to make some room in the store ready for the next big projects. As the layout has been stored in its flight case all this time it wasn't in bad nick apart from some wiring nibbled by a small rodent and some damage to the upper track. i kept a video of the restoration as it progressed and have put it on youtube. the videos explains much more about what the layout is about than words could ever do This picture gives you an idea of the basic premise. a shop building with two working Z running tracks. one running around the ceiling and one as a stand alone layout on the shop floor Here you can see how we use the figures to represent the staff and customers here is a top view of the lower layout more in a minute KEV 1 Link to comment
kevsmiththai
video links are part one with me waffling away and part two with action shots this gives some idea of the huge amount of detail incorperated into the layout and why I would rather sell it complete than break it up. The nice thing about it is you can run whatever Z gauge stock takes your fancy on the upper and lower tracks. here is a shot of it in its flight case, every layout we build is protected by these as they make taking layouts to shows safe and easy but they also prove their worth if a layout is stored for a long time like this one. cheers KEV Link to comment
