Lawrence
As I have purchased much of my track & accessories second hand I have had to be rather creative with the wiring! Having searched on here I discovered that the mini Tamiya/Kyosho connectors would fit the point switches, so I ordered 30 sets from Hong Kong. Unfortunately they don't fit as they are slightly too big but as they come as male & female pairs I wondered if it was easy enough to split the switch bodies and rewire them with the new plugs/sockets. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Link to comment
cteno4
Lawrence, ive got some of those as well. i have made them work with a little sanding, but they are not as smooth connecting as the native katos are. are you asking about rewiring from w/in the switch body itself? if so why not nip off the current connectors and just put new plugs on or am i missing something? there is a super simple/cheap alternative to the tamiya plugs. do have to put new plugs on the leads, but pretty fast to do. You can buy 40 pin male and female round pin PC board connectors. these can be clipped into 2 pin units. super easy to solder these onto your point wires and what ever other wires. just use a 1cm piece of heat shrink over each pin solder. you can use different colored heat shrink to indicate polarity. but if you decide you want to flip how the point operates just flip the connector. they dont lock together like tamiya connectors but rarely do you need that level of hold and a small loop of take will hold the connections well. i actually like the fact that they will give in case you snag a wire, wont try to rip everything out if the connector just pops. makes for a much smaller connector than the tamiya to snake through holes and have hanging around. cost about 5 cents per dual pin connector. super simple, super cheap. cheers jeff Link to comment
