Interesting that it's 1/87 rather than 1/80.

 

Beautiful train, but the price makes me glad I don't model in HO.

Makes sense as a Shinkansen to match HO gauge track as standard gauge. Like 1/160 Shinkansens vs 1/150 for the rest.

/Only/ $1000? I was expecting a price over ten times that, given the subject and materials! I'd say it was a steal at that price!

 

 

EDIT: I see, $1000 for the /cab car/. That is more in line with what I was expecting!

That price range seems to be the going rate these days.  They keep making smaller runs that are more expensive.  Or lately preorder reservation only.  I have some New Haven RR Electrics on reserve that have been waitnig for the reservation to fill out for a couple of years now.

Mark, I too don't have any interest in the Shinkansen - I like more rural smaller trains with some express trains passing by.

 

I see two complete HO Shinkansen trains offered on ebay by a store in Japan and they are in the 9 to 12 thousand dollars range.
