bikkuri bahn
One quibble- college students in Japan are definitely NOT expected to devote all their time to study, many get a part-time job (not cleaning, though) or involve themselves in club/recreational circle activities, or just loaf around. Always take the declarations of western reporters about Japanese society with a grain of salt- especially anything churned out by the Japan Times.
