Old story of the private railway

Very nice. It's interesting to see these old trams--most of which were replaced by subway lines and commuter rail lines by the 1970's. I believe that only Hiroshima nowadays has a true city-wide tram system, mostly because the geology of the soil around the city (Hiroshima is built on a river delta) mitigated against building a subway system there.

That's too much pictures, I shouldn't distract myself further. I found the Enoden pictures almost on the top interesting to see, I've never seen these types of trains before.

I liked the picture of the old (surface) Sanyo terminus at Kobe...incredibly there were no gates or any other kind of protection separating the end of the platforms from the street...

People used to have enough common sense to not cross tracks when a train arrived.. These days, not so much it seems =)

I'd agree with that!

I was thinking more along the lines of fare evasion... :)
