Sacto1985
YouTube regular nimo5 just posted an excellent video of JR Freight train action at Kurashiki Station west of Okayama on the San'yō Main Line: Note the long freight trains in this video taken 23 December 2012, which indicates 1) how busy the San'yō Main Line is for freight traffic and 2) the very busy freight traffic delivering goods for Christmas and Japanese New Year's Day delivery. 2 Link to comment
POMU
Thanks Sacto1985 Very nice video and amazing amount of freight. Seen towards end is Sagawa container - thought they were only on M250 - any information on that Link to comment
JR 500系
Nice video! Thanks for sharing Sacto1985! Amazing power in that locomotive, judging from the speed and length of the freights! One thing that always puzzles me, why do they always have empty carriages in the middle of the entire length of the freight train? Indeed, several Japanese shops including online shops are closed for the Xmas and New year holidays! Nice! Link to comment
Nick_Burman
Thanks Sacto1985 Very nice video and amazing amount of freight. Seen towards end is Sagawa container - thought they were only on M250 - any information on that The M250 runs only between Tokyo and Osaka - anything Sagawa needs to deliver west of Osaka must either be interchanged between the M250 and an ordinary container train, or taken on an ordinary train all the way. Notice also gondola container carrying cable coils on second train in film. And what on earth are those Saitama garbage carriers doing on the Sanyo line??? Cheers NB Link to comment

If these trains do any stops en route to exchange containers, I think these empty spaces on the trains refer to spaces allocated to specific terminals but not filled up. Cheers NB Link to comment
Sacto1985
By the way, nimo5 just posted a second video of railroad action on the San'yō Main Line, this time around Kitanagase Station (the first passenger station west of Okayama Station): Note that some of the video looks at the west end of the Nishi-Okayama Freight Yard. 1 Link to comment
