Nick_Burman
Could someone please tell me more about the prototype of these cars http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10137229 other than the garbled translation that HS furnishes? Did they ran as an unit train, and if yes, what was their origin and destination? Cheers NB 1 Link to comment
CaptOblivious
A trainload of umami indeed! Adding a little to the translation, they were dedicated to transporting flavoring agents, esp amino acids and concentrated stocks. Railfans apparently call them "Ajitamu", short for Ajinomoto TAMU. It looks like they were used in unit trains (and possibly in mixed freight as well): one sentence says something about how they could be seen all lined up outside a freight depot near the factory for distribution around the country. 2 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Wow! I didn't know those cars existed. That looks pretty rad. I once tried a teaspoon of Ajinomoto... All I could taste was the inside of my mouth x1000. Don't do it people! 3 Link to comment
westfalen
Well, you learn something every day. I've got a set of these and I always thought they were fuel tank cars. Link to comment
