These sites hardly have an editorial policy either, or rather it's just one that maximizes clicks. i.e. tabloid. The Japanese site is the same- one of their news articles has it that Yamanashi Pref. residents are "shocked" they can't get Amazon rapid delivery service because of the recent road tunnel accident, and must settle for regular delivery (stuff of self-centered navel gazers). The problem with these (English) sites is that it is the source for many people for "news" about Japan, because the mainstream media hardly ever covers Japan (and does it badly when it occurs).
