Kato Interior Lighting Decoders for Other Lighting Projects

Have you replaced the LED of a Kato FR11 lighting decoder with another LED? How did you manage that?

 

I think the FR11 would make a great single function decoder for all sorts of projects, like lighted bumper lamps and Freds. They'll work for both DCC and DC.
