Ohhh.... THAT sound. It's the NS Plan V sound!

Before the new trains went into service 2 years ago I could hear this sound on calm nights from my room, very nostalgic.

AFAIK, English Electric.

 

When I said that it was going off on a ballasting assignment I hadn't seen the whole video (#$@!$$ internet connection in the boondocks). Now that I've seen it completely I noticed that the "mission" was to collect a 1000 series trainset and take it to the ballast siding, where it would be scrapped.

You're right, Nick, ED28 was built by EE - I didn't realise they had built small locos like this for Japan.
