miyakoji
I'm not aware of any other zenmen tenbou videos of the Iyo Railway in Ehime, so these videos by KAZUOo50 are great. You can see former Keio 3000 and 5000 series, with the 5000 series riding on different trucks for Iyotetsu's 1067mm gauge. Keio's gauging is interesting, they have both 1067mm (which I didn't know) and the unique 1372mm. 5000 series rolling stock, despite having run originally on this gauge, lives on with several other railways around Japan including Fujikyu, Ichibata, and Kotohira (who run it on 1435mm track!). 3000 series trains have found new homes also, but they were 1067mm to begin with. I wonder why Keio rolling stock is so popular across the country following its retirement. A unique feature of Iyotetsu is their 750VDC electrification as opposed to the more common 1500V. Something to do with their tram operations, I'm guessing. I really like Japan's regional cities, and Matsuyama and the surrounding area are all the better with this network. Yokogawara Line - Matsuyamashi Station to Yokogawara Station Takahama Line - Matsuyamashi Station to Takahama Station Gunchu Line - Matsuyamashi Station to Gunchuko Station KAZUOo50 has also uploaded video of their tram routes, which use their street lines in various ways. This is explained on the English Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iyo_Railway Route 5 Route 1 Route 6 2 Link to comment
Sacto1985
Thanks for the videos. One thing though: the audible warning signals at the crossings on all the commuter rail lines are very loud--you can hear them quite easily even when the train is passing by the crossing quickly.
