Just enjoyed a trip on a new KiHa25 when the unit breaks from the main electrified line at 24mins into the clip, the diesel line seems to have catenary posts ready for future wiring, are there many line being electrified in Japan>?

Not many as far as I know.  In fact this is the only one that I can think of.  It would be interesting to know what made it worth it for JR Central to electrify this, they have these new KIHA25s and the KIHA75s they've been running here are not too old.  JR East has ordered new DMUs for the Kururi Line rather than electrify it.  That line has also gotten (or is getting) up-to-date signaling.  Good video, dbz586601 posts a lot of Nagoya-area videos.

Nice video!

Esp when the lady with her son forgot to alight at the station at 26:50 and requested for the driver to re-open the door after it has closed. So nice of him ~

Nice scenery ideas on the second half. Always surprised at the multistory apartment buildings popping out of nowhere!

Thanks

I'm not sure but I think this is an area where a lot of people commute to Nagoya for work, so that could explain both the apartments and why JRC is electrifying the line.

I've seen this all over japan, just the odd multistory apartment building popping out. Makes sense next a commuter line!

If you're talking from Taketoyo south, it doesn't make sense since the Meitetsu Kōwa Line has three stations in the Taketoyo area. That is unless JR Central has the passenger traffic from Okkawa Station back to Obu Station on the Tokaido Main Line to justify the line electrification.

Apparently there has been considerable pressure from residents and local government to have electrification, and even going as far as demanding double track and staffed stations.  There was post by westfalen a while back (one of his videos of this line), I believe there was a discussion of how there were once hopes that this line would be used as an access line to Chubu Intl. Airport.  I don't know if current or future forecasts of ridership justify the electrification, in general the Tokai region is very automobile dominant, in particular these outer suburban regions.

Oh, by the way, the Sassho Line was electrified this year...

Good site with details of the line, including a track diagram:
