Bandai Shorty trucks

I have recently assembled my first Bandai B Train Shorty.  I found the Bandai trucks to be an extremely loose fit.  In fact, a truck would drop off while trying to put the little beasties on the rails.  And, an axle here or there would drop off a truck.

 

So, I ordered a set of Kato trucks.  They fit with a similar looseness.  Is this normal?  Do the trains operate okay over log periods of time with these sloppy trucks?  I haven't had the patience to try to get enough of them on rails at once to run them.  Very frustrating, they are.  They are lucky I haven't thrown them against a wall.
